tbh I thought you were refraining from trades as a strategic thing, because you wanted to see which of your favorites had enough natural support to get past 2 or 3 saves, and then you would start trading later for the ones remaining. I didn't know you refuse altogether.

You'd also run into the problem of the board having certain people that would find ways to trade under the table anyway.

I did not think it was insulting in any way. There was absolutely no chance my PM to you would have gotten moderated for Flaming or Offensive if I posted it on the boards because I did not use any of the words associated with Flaming moderations, nor did I use any kind of Offensive language (like homophobic, racist, or sexist language). I go with the standard GameFAQs rule on Flaming/Offensive moderations when it comes to deciding if my words are considered insulting or not.

It still doesn't fall into the realm of Flaming/Offensive moderations on GameFAQs, which is what I try to conform to when I send messages to other people. Hell, I didn't even use any swear words either even though it's perfectly legal on GameFAQs to post "fuck you" to another user and not get moderated.

I'm trying to tell you that a post can not break the ToU and people can still find if offensive or problematic or whatever. The Gamefaqs ToU is not the ultimate moral arbiter, and doesn't make mine or Karo's perception of what is or isn't ok any less valid.

Luster I found it insulting because you imply that the way I'm playing the contest is the result of being dumb or ignorant and that you need to enlighten someone who has played save mys for over a decade in basic save my strategy

I prefer to hold onto my final set of saves until the end of the round to slow down the arrival of the final rush and possibly allow some other people to get in another set of saves. This can work to my advantage if these other people (if the round lasts long enough to get back to them again) are known to possibly save any favorites of mine.

Ermine isn't even heavily involved in this contest unlike the last one. He was originally on record as saying he wouldn't participate, then Xuxon suggested maybe joining the contest around the Top 20 if any of his favorites are still alive then. Ermine ultimately chose to begin participating in the contest sometime around the Top 230, and only to save Zigzagoon every round. Once the contest switched over to 2 saves required (per Pokemon), he started saving Zigzagoon and Lycanroc every round.

Though it would be interesting to see how SMP would turn out without save trading in place.

While this is possible, I don't think we'll see a contest that leans more heavily towards Gen 1 compared to the later generations. Gen 1 already does much better than all of the other generations even when save trading is possible and save trading hasn't prevented a Gen 1 Pokemon from winning the entire thing. Although there are some users in this contest that are hardcore Genwunners (almost always saving Gen 1's), the few Genwunners that do participate in this contest won't be able to single-handedly give us a Top 100 that is heavily populated with Gen 1's.

the problem with canceling trading and next rounders is that you'd have a lot of stalemates going on at the end of the round, especially once multiple saves (4+) are needed.

But for the record, I don't trade very often myself as I find it stressful, especially at the end of rounds.
