Had a group interview today. Went well and I am pretty sure I'll get offered a position tomorrow or the next day.

There are good things about the job, I like the general job itself, the only main problem I have is it's a minimum of 45 hours a week. I would probably actually work more then that since you can have unlimited overtime, and you make significantly more for additional hours (it's way more then time and a half due to incentives).

For 50 hours, by my calculations I would make over $1000 a week, starting pay. So a significant amount for a position like that.

I'm looking for a job where I am constantly active, and this is great. A job that I can both stand and sit as much as I want to avoid hurting my back, and a job that works with other people (customers in this case). Most of the things I really want, this covers.

If only I could actually work less hours, even if It meant I didn't get the over time etc, that boosted the over all pay.

I'm selling my house, moving, trying to expand my friend base, possibly considering dating again in the future (maybe 6 months down the road or so), and trying to improve my eating and exercise habbits. A 50+ work week, is not going to leave me much room for any of that ....*Sigh*.

Really considering doing a job that involves tips, like cooking, so I could possibly work like 30 hours a week, but average $20+ an hour with tips. I did hear from a few waiters that are friends...that they don't always...share the tips (the cash ones), so you might not get nearly as much in tips as a cook even though they are supposed to be shared. Still if it's enough to pump the base pay to $20+, I would be happy.

So blah, not sure what to do. Really don't want to just turn down the job without trying it, but the training is 12 weeks and don't want to go through that, and waste their money, only to find a 45 hour work week (or more) doesn't work for me either.

The other advantage is you can set your own hours. I asked and you can actually work 3 11 hour days and 1 12 hour day, giving you 3 days off a week. I'd probably work the weekend, take monday off, wed off and friday off.

Weekends have additional incentives as well (on top of the overtime ones etc), so I would make even more money if I work on them.

Anyone work a job (That is not in their 20's anymore) that is over 40 hours a week? I did work as a teacher (10+ hours a day) AND finished getting my masters and did the student teaching program a few years ago, but that really wore me out.
