Nobody at planet fitness wants to get in shape. They want people to think they're attempting to get in shape and to be able to tag themselves at a gym.

From a purely practical standpoint, people who use the gym regularly arent their target market. They want people who are going to spend the money and maybe only show up once or twice. Also, you could load up 4 plates on each side and have a decent leg press if you were only pushing with one leg.

For the exact reason they don't want you there. To go around the people obviously not trying to be bodybuilders and act superior/patronize others. They just know a lot of bodybuilders are jackoffs

I signed up at a planet fitness one time and they had tootsie rolls at the front counter, the guy that was giving me the tour was overweight and talked about pizza Fridays or something. I love pizza but damn that place was such shit at least they kept their equipment clean.

I think many go because its cheap. I think its dumb for that picture being shown. I understand (though dont agree with) not wanting loud people or people who drop weights. Not sure why you should shame people for lifting a heavy weight

Are people really that insecure that they get "intimidated" by someone moving a shitload of weight?

Right those type of body builders turn people off from going to the gym. So planet fitness is a place for those people.

Yes it's for snowflakes. That's who they advertise to. There are many people who are afraid of gyms, so that's why it works for them, I guess. It's also really cheap for a gym.

When I signed up in December, the woman who showed me around explicitly told me they don't cater to bodybuilders and powerlifters.

They're pretty awful. Other than the lunk alarm, they also won't let you wear stringers or other clothes they think are too revealing--but they only enforce that policy if you have a nice body. LMAO

Planet Fitness member here. I like it because it is cheap and the closest gym to where I live. All of the equipment is in great shape and I LOL every time I see one of their pandering to the extreme left slogans on the wall. It's whatever. I feel it is mostly there to make me laugh. Just be respectful to other gym goers.

I find it funnier that people would be upset by their policies.

If people would only realize that nobody gives a shit about you or what you're doing at the gym, it would eliminate 99% of gym related insecurities.

Even the biggest dudes in the gym are there for themselves and don't give a fuck that a fat slob is next to him doing cheat curls. You're there to better you and only you.

The idea of having rules against assholes in your gym is good, but sounding an alarm because someone grunted while lifting heavy weights is complete bullshit.

Ive spent a lot of time in many different gyms. Most people just keep to themselves with the rare exception being correcting something dangerous. This judgemental douchey thing is all in the mind of people that don't use the gym. They probably want to go due to lack of options and price. Definitely not to show off. Planet fitness is the only gym I've ever been to where people care what others are doing. I'm just glad there are many options in my area and I'm not stuck with them.

Maybe. But it just seems like people have options and I don't understand getting panties in a bunch over it. Know what I do when I go to someones house and they have different rules I don't quite understand? Not bitch and abide by them when Im there. If it's something I don't like then I don't go. Because I have that option
