The process is tricky. But, you need to establish rules and follow the rules set.

In a perfect world, you would deny anyone with any criminal background, have a diverse allottments, and take the best individuals that wish to immigrate. Unfortunately, it is hard to do that or differentiate. And, it is also hard to pidgeonhole allotments like that

Depends on how many immigrants you are taking and how many are wishing to enter. If supply outstrips demand, you can afford to be selective. And vice versa.

Glad all of our ancestors were top doctors when they came to America a hundred years ago.

Okay. Let's explain why there has to be a limit. Eventhough that should be obvious.

Let's say you have enough room to support another billion people. Your population is like 470 million or some shit.

A billion people want to come in year 1.

Well, now you have just outnumbered us citizens by immigrants 2:1.

Also, you have taken all room you can support for growth of population, likely destablized your country, and caused widespread poverty. Not to mention anyone in future years never gets the opportunity because you already maxed out all your space.

You have to take set amounts per year that enables them to assimilate (and merge their own culture) into ours. Leave room for population growth inside the country. And slowly ease immigrants into citizenship.

My point is that there is a long way to go before we hit these levels, but yet GOP officials want to LOWER immigration levels

Yes, of course there has to eventually be a limit when theres no more room. And by room I mean more than just land; I mean all those societal things you mentioned.

Like, I said. It depends on supply and demand. If you have enough supply compared to demand, you don't need to be selective.

Limits just need to be set and adhered to.

Though Hannity says he was never actually Cohens client, he does appear to have used the legal services of other well-connected Trump-world lawyers in a different matter a year ago.

On May 25, 2017, KFAQ, a radio station based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, received a cease-and-desist letter signed by two lawyers for Hannity: Victoria Toensing and Jay Alan Sekulow. Toensings signature sits above her name and that of her husband Joseph E. diGenova, the members of diGenova and Toensing LLP, who are identified as Counsel for Sean Hannity, according to a copy of the letter obtained by The Atlantic. Sekulow is also identified in the letter page as a Counsel for Sean Hannity.

I stress again in light of this new information:

Those examples above are specific moments, so lets look at some of Hannitys stats for a broader picture of how Fox dodges bad press for Donald. Media Matters tracked Hannity for three and a half months last summer and got these episode-based percentages:

61% - Donalds personal lawyer Jay Sekulow was on his show.
51% - opening monologue suggested Donald didnt collude with Russia.
41% - opening monologue accused Hillary of colluding with Russia.
11% - opening monologue said to terminate Robert Muellers investigation.

One strange argument in these immigration debates is always "look how strict Mexico is or how strict Canada is or how strict China is or how strict Japan is" etc.

And it's like...yeah. That's why the US has, for the better part of a century now, been better than all of them. We take their best and their brightest or their hardest working or their most ambitious. We take them from you and we make them ours. That has been an undeniable strength of America for years. And suddenly their is this segment of the Republican Party that wants to see that all go away out of either bigotry or ignorance of how the economy works.

I can't say that I agree.

Cohen began practicing personal injury law in New York in 1992.[9]

A native of Long Island, the 51-year old Cohen graduated from American University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School before moving to New York City to work as an attorney and co-owner of a taxi business.

Cohen also began accumulating Trump-branded real estate in the 2000s. He purchased a $1 million condo at Trump World Tower in 2001, followed by properties at Trump Palace and Trump Park Avenue, drawing public praise from his future boss.

Michael Cohen has a great insight into the real-estate market, Trump told the New York Post in 2007. He has invested in my buildings because he likes to make money, and he does.

Trump hired Cohen later that year as executive vice president of The Trump Organization and special counsel to Trump.

As of April 2018, he is under investigation by federal prosecutors into multiple matters, including bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations, relating in part to payments made to Stormy Daniels.[2][5]

I can't find out very much else about Cohen's legal "career" as it were, but it sounds like he did some personal injury stuff, he owned a fleet of taxi cabs, he got into real estate, and then he started working with Trump.

It doesn't sound like he's going to be an expert on criminal defense of bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations.

I'm sure he has SOME experience with those things and a cursory knowledge of the topics, but I'm also sure there are numerous employees who specialize in the defense of those crimes and would be much better suited as his attorney. And it's not like he couldn't afford a good defense lawyer.

The downside to hiring someone that i can see is then he would have to be honest with his attorney as far as what he did or did not commit so his lawyer could properly defend him, and perhaps he would rather not do that.
