I will first admit my own ignorance. People shouldn't be turned off to either movies or video games. But my family (close and extended) has done this to me by having a negative outlook on video games as a waste of time. All video games are bad and stupid because they don't understand them, but all shows and movies are pretty much okay?

I already admitted my own ignorance because I have chosen to do the opposite. I am annoyed by shows and movies. I still watch the ones that I think are really good (not saying which ones, because the discussion will change) but its very, very, very few.

I am extremely antagonistic to people who think video games are stupid and movies are great. I hate those people with a passion.

I like to watch movies with SO's because we can cuddle and stuff but I would never watch a movie with my guy friends. I get bored sitting in the same place for 2-3 hours doing nothing unless its extremely interesting. I also never watch the same movie twice because everything happens the exact same way it did the first time. You have no control. Just press play and be a zombie.

Also movies these days have a high chance to suck, they star the same people (Dwayne Johnson is in every movie right now...how am I supposed to convince myself that he is all the characters he's portraying when he looks and acts exactly the same? Same goes for many other actors.)

They also take years to come out only for you to sit down and watch them for a few hours if you weren't already spoiled by the trailers. Games can be very short too, yes, but its the control that you have. You can improve in a game, play them with others and improve together, combat eachother, so many more things than a simple movie. Like for example lets say I decide to watch the original Star Wars trilogy today...that would take a shitload of time and I already know what's going to happen. Why bother? I just don't get it.

I would have agreed with you a few weeks ago but watching a bad/average movie is still a better use of your time than browsing Facebook/GFaqs because you'll at least see something remotely interesting that may help you relate to others.

Heavily disagree. Facebook depends on who you associate yourself with and Gamefaqs can be really stupid but hilarious. A bad movie will always suck.

I wouldn't say I'm turned off by films but I've never been big into them either. Not sure why - I just don't feel any compulsion to watch most movies. I like some - mostly out-there ones like Tokyo Gore Police and Taxidermia, but also some conventional films like The Sandlot. (That's actually my favorite film.)

Haven't seen Fantastic Beasts
Haven't seen the Hobbit films
Haven't seen GotG
The last comic book superhero movie I saw was Iron Man. The first one.
I've seen almost none of the "must-watch" films that everyone says are the best.

Just can't be bothered.

Films are probably the thing I'm most passionate about in life, they're very important to me. I don't generally watch mainstream blockbuster stuff because it's not my style, but there's so many wonderful films I love. Video games are cool too but they have to be really amazing to hold my interest
