I just got a PS4 Pro. And to my surprise I couldn't really tell the difference at all. Then again my 4k tv isn't HDR. I tried several games and it just didn't impress. And yeah I know the PS4 Pro isn't true 4k. But even the frame rate wasn't that much of a difference.

I don't have a 4k display to be able to tell you the difference. I have had 2x1080p displays since more or less 2010.

yes. it's kind of like that 1080p is high-res, but only at a "macro" level. if you look at the fine detail, it gets blurred. with 4k you see high-res even when looking at the fine detail. it doesn't seem to make a ton of difference at the macro level, though.

additionally, much 1080p video is actually not fully 1080p. something to do with the luminosity being flattened in clusters of 4 pixels (so I guess the luminosity is really 540 not 1080 or something). so even just playing a 4k video on a 1080p display can still look a lot better than the 1080p version of the video.

the best, though, is 4k60 on an OLED. that looks jaw dropping... not quite worth the price, but it sure does look amazing.

I want an OLED so bad. I may bring my PS4 into Best Buy or something and see how it looks! lol before purchase of course.

My vision is horrendous and I can't tell the difference between anything involving frame rate or resolution, like 30 vs. 60 fps or 1080p vs. 4k.

Yes, but I won't sacrifice 60+ consistent fps for anything past 1080.

Not really.

Most games look better at 1080p anyway without turning down the graphics.

Depends on the game, as racing games require looking deep in to the distance so fine pixels really count.

fps smooths motion blur. Play a driving game and look at a sign with writing as you drive past, with 60 fps I see big jumps when trying to track them.

a youtube video is a terrible thing to look for discrepancies in video
it's compressed and running through a stupid flash thing

30fps/60fps are night and day to me, i feel input lag in 30fps and I get super tired playing those games because they look like t.v.

Go view it actually in the YouTube app and set it to at least one of the 60fps options. There's definitely a difference.

Never seen 4k in person.

480 to 720 is a big jump. 720 to 1080 seems less so.

Biggest thing for me is, I have no intention of ever buying a TV larger than 32 or monitor larger than 24 inches.
