It's a normal record, plays on a normal record player, but has higher audio quality, volume, and storage. Some British dudes came up with it and they're expected to be available in a year or so.

If you're interested in the actual process and what they do to achieve that, Google would be better.

why, nobody is recording symphonies anymore. for most anything 44k 160k bitrate mp3 will do if you record it from streams.

If you have a decent player, decent receiver, and decent speakers or headphones you can definitely tell a difference. How much you care about that difference is up to you. But it's there and noticable.
I'm not even talking audiophile gear, just decent stuff.

I'm not saying it won't sound good but to me the point of vinyl is that it's an analog medium that is imperfect. The natural scratchiness and "warmth" that regular vinyl put out often adds to the sound of the music. Especially from back in the day

scratchiness

??

Stop using Crosleys and/or set your gear up properly to avoid igd.

Also imperfections are inherent to every kind of audio playback. Bits and DACs, and not to mention compression, are not perfect. Personally I'll spend good money to play back my music with the best fidelity, truest to the original master as possible. My next upgrade will be a Clearaudio MC cartridge that goes for $1000.

Anyways here's a discussion about it on vinylengine.com with links:
