Bullshit. For every one good manager/supervisor there's at least ten shitty ones. It'a a rarity these days to find good management/work culture.

1. Working along side good people is more important for your mental health and happiness than getting a bigger check. A good working experience counts more than money

2. Short commutes to work = greater work satisfaction and happiness.

3. If you maintain an open helpful attitude towards co-workers they tend to want to reciprocate. When you share with the office, the office often likes to share back.

4. Team 'fit' is more important than skills and experience. Skills and experience can be learned and difficulties overcome with a bit of coordination and team work. Bad team fit, doesn't fix itself with time.

5. Good managers are not afraid to get down and dirty when you're understaffed and need help. Nothing is 'beneath' their pay grade. Their end goals are the same as yours.

6. Your product is good service. If something isn't getting done it reflects badly on all of us. There's no room for pointing fingers.

7. High turnover in a position is suspect. Doubly so if the staff leaving are well trained talent with lots of experience. A company actually spends a great deal of money developing that personnel, and if something is causing a great deal of them to leave in short order, or you can't keep a certain job filled, that's a problem.

8. Take vacation. It's literally part of your paycheck, and several studies show it makes us better, more attentive employees. I think most healthy companies have don't this research and organized themselves accordingly. Some of them even require employees to take so many vacation days a year.

9. If you don't feel comfortable saying it to your boss's boss, you should probably not say it at all. Obvious, really.

oops, misunderstood that post

in my experience at retail and fast food, the employees are the worst aspect, especially if you include 'management' that gets paid hourly like they used to do at both walmart and mcdonalds (guess they still might, I wouldnt know any mroe)

in my experience the actual salaried middle management is less bad than your hourly compatriots. though they are bad in their own, different, way

99% of "customers are always terrible" people just have ridiculous confirmation bias.

For every bad customer I've encountered over multiple retail jobs, I've had 50 who are pleasant/decent at best, or at the very worst just want to get on with their lives without any problems. The vast, overwhelming majority of people don't want to fuck with you.

Another thing I learned: Don't trust anyone. That coworker acts like your friend but he will stab you in the back for a promotion or kudos from the boss.

Retail

Most thefts happen when its busy.

Most customers practice selective reading, as in they only see prices not what the prices are actually for.

If you work at a supermarket and most of your customers are elderly, then your store may be doing poorly. Elderly people like to shop where they feel safe, a busy location is/may be considered unsafe.

Women can and will try and fit carts through narrow spaces. Some men will also, but its mostly women.

First impressions are an important part of corporate visits. If their first impression is good then the visit may go better, as in they will nitpick less and may act friendlier.
