Turns out my good friend from high school does therapeutic massage, and I know he's a smart guy, so I thought, "What the hell." I have an old shoulder injury that flares up every so often, and I've wanted to do something about it for a while.
Apparently the problem might not be my shoulder -- my hips aren't in alignment, so they aren't absorbing the shocks well, causing those transfer to the back, which exacerbates the problem. I didn't really catch much more about what he was saying since it was complex anatomical/physiological stuff, but even though it hurt a bit, I am feeling a bit of relief. In summary, 9/10 would recommend. --- E come vivo? Vivo! ... Copied to Clipboard!

I agree, actually. The point I failed to get to was, it's because we're touch-starved that it's so sensual. And men are so terrified of appearing to be gay that they make themselves even more touch-starved by avoiding physical affection with the same sex, hence a stronger aversion to a male masseuse. It really wasn't all that long ago that grown men were touchy-feely with each other in a platonic way, which makes this all the more tragic. --- Don't curse the darkness - light a candle. ... Nah, I know it's unusual to be OK with a guy doing that. I just don't give a shit, especially since it was meant to be therapeutic and not "relaxation." I don't care if it's a guy or a girl who's trying to mitigate the pain, I just care if I feel an improvement. Plus, I know the guy pretty damn well. I'd probably feel a little more awkward if it were some stranger.
I guess after you've worked at the opera house, any traces of homophobia or awkwardness are stamped out. mnkboy907 posted... Well as his gay best friend in high school used to say, trdl is gayer than him. This is still accurate, so, y'know. --- E come vivo? Vivo! ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'm going to assume that most of the people saying it's weird to have a male maasseuse haven't had a professional massage.
There is a world of difference between a massage and a back/shoulder rub. Especially for like a deep tissue massage a male masseuse is generally better because more often than not they are heavier and stronger, this helps becasue they are more capable of manipulating stronger muscles like your back. Unless you have a feminine frame then I guess it wouldn't make a difference. --- User ID: 4002777 ... Copied to Clipboard!

I've gotten physical therapy from men and there was no awkwardness, but I'm sure that's due to the public and innately non-sensual nature of PT. A dude massage would be weird, but I'm glad it didn't for you.
