They charge about the same as some of the mom & pop shops around here... But they are probably as good or better than some of them... So, I guess that would make it worth it...

This. It's like maybe 1.5X as good. That's why I never go. Kinda like panera. The food is decent but the portions are tiny and then the bill is like 12 bucks wtf

They get you with the fries. The "little" order is basically $4 (location varies). Their gimmick is that they'll give you a shitload of fries anyways, which was great back when it didn't cost an arm and a leg, but now it's pointless. I'd take half the fries for half the price easily.

Because they can be. They market themselves as being better than the average fast food joint (which they generally are) and charge more as a result, and they have a sustainable consumer base.

Well it's pretty hard to actually quantify food quality but I can't think of a single burger place that is so much worse that it would justify the cost of eating at five guys for me

5guys is actually reasonably priced for their quality which is why they are expanding the way they are.

Restaurants are a ripoff in Europe/the UK. Everything is the same or more in pounds than dollars, which is insane when the exchange rate is factored in. I only ate McDonald's once because better food was about the same price. My buddy bought a Whopper combo in Switzerland and it was like $30cdn......

The prices are fine if you live there, because pay is better, but if you're from an area that isn't like that, have fun.

Nah. I like 5 Guys, but not Panera. Also, I don't have cookouts all year round. Not do I want to have to cook a cheeseburger everytime I want one.

Red Robin is cheaper than 5 Guys here, and they sell a bottomless root beer float. Which is often the only reason I go to RR. I've been to 5G once, they charged me an arm and a leg for a tiny, dry hunk of shit and a pile of fries that were inferior to both Rally's and Boardwalk. I will never visit them again.

It's not a bad thing, exactly. But I think people would want to spend a little less money, even if it were less fries. Also, some people like fries from other places better. I don't really remember the fries well, myself. But they are probably decent. Maybe even better than most of the places around it. But we don't have many places with good fries around the area where 5 Guys is located in my town...

I'm usually of a like mind, I don't normally get fries. Their fries weren't bad, better than the burger, but the pricing for everything is outrageous. I was basically forced to get fries after I took note of what everybody else was eating, buying another couple burgers to make up the difference would have been absurd. Although perhaps saying never is too harsh, but they would have to lower their cost quite a bit to get me back in. This was several years ago, too, so they're likely even more costly now.

Maybe. But they may have stayed at the same price. Or may have even gone down. I haven't been in years myself, but might go next time I go home to visit...
