Got a notification on my phone tonight that said "Jung Yu Ji new album Alborada"

I was like "OH SHIT UJI DROPPED A SOLO ALBUM AND I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT WAS COMING?!?!" Cause her voice is ridiculous and I have been wanting her to release something since I started listening to BESTie!

Turns out there is an electronic act called Uji signed to a record label from Argentina called ZZK Records. Alborada is his album and google managed to mistake the Kpop idol Uji for the Argentinian guy called Uji. It's been a rough day and this was almost a comedic sad ending

ha yeah, that was about after school's kaeun, who debuted as a new member in 2012, and has waited 5 years for a comeback before joining a survival show as a trainee. mnet ofc wringed as much drama as they could out of it, even going as far as to put kahi (after school leader) on the panel just for auditions even though she's not a trainer this season.

(it was p. funny because they made it out to be a touching reunion, as if we all forgot about kahi's twitter rant when kaeun was announced as a member seemingly without her knowledge, and how by all indications she was a terrifying disciplinarian who resented new members.)

they're definitely stoking nationalism, but i thought it was pretty even-handed. they emphasized that it was a different system with different training methods, and made the case that for the 48G it's more important to look like they're having fun on stage and connect with the fans, which is valid. even bae yoon jung was pretty mild, and they were careful not to make this into a korean survival show about clowning on j-idols.

yamada noe was definitely the highlight of the episode (and of the promo videos on the run-up). i'm also a fan of takeuchi miyu, who's apparently very underrated in 48G according to all the comment sections i've seen. i've been listening to her covers (which are all her own arrangements):
