if you asked me what is the game released this year, i can only answer Far Cry 5. That's how broken the gaming industry has been reduced to.

It's a good thing that AAA games aren't that profitable anymore.

Costs for production and development got so bloated we've been getting clone like sequels and rehashes since mid PS3/360 era. I would rather have Indies that try new shit and fail miserably than 10 different iterations of RE4 knockoffs with different characters.

This, tbh. You don't need super high dev budgets to create a good game. The limitations for creating a game is no longer the tech but now how expensive it is.

Most AAA games come out later in the year. Releasing a big AAA game in January-March isn't usually that common.

Despite this Far Cry 5 just came out and God of War is a few weeks away.
