I'd say it makes up about 10% when I put the tip in.

Anywhere from 15-50%.

Really depends on the cost of my meal and I usually tip anyway. If it's a $4 plate I'll usually just give $5. $6 if service was good.

If it's $20 and service sucks they're getting $2. $5-7 if service was good.

Where do you live that a sit down restaurant has a 4 dollar meal?

Next whole dollar amount above 15% is my standard. I've been known to go up to 20% for entertaining service.

Default for me is 20%. (I've only stiffed 1 waitress in my entire life, but she deserved it.)

If the service is really good, I'll go higher. (The most I've ever tipped was 40%, but the service was amazing, quick and my entire table was happy throughout the meal, so...)

I generally have pleasant service so my go-to is 20% but rounded up to the nearest dollar
I have no problem leaving a bad tip or no tip if I get bad service, I just don't really encounter it often enough to be in that situation

What happened?

Long story short, she made me and my wife (then my girlfriend) wait over an hour for the check. I had to hunt down a manager so I could pay because the waitress didn't want to bother with us. (We weren't drinking that night, so she gave up on us. It was at Disney...)

I used to tip either $0 or $5.

I've been preparing all my own meals for years now.

If for some reason I went out to eat tomorrow, I'd tip either $0 or $5.

15% because that's what's socially mandatory. More (as in the actual purpose of a tip) if the service is exceptional.

30% if it's happy hour and we're ordering a bunch of shit deeply discounted. i used to try to calc the original price but drink prices are rarely listed

25% if it's a tapas restaurant and they're doing a bottomless plates special

20% if they handled multiple orders (ie, appetizers, multiple rounds of drinks, etc)

15% if they handled just a single order of one entree per person
