I wish I could more... But I love halfway across the country. So, not very often... If ever. I probably would more if I could go back home more often. And have a vehicle when I did...

My parents were cremated and I've still got the ashes. Was never close to my other relatives, so my answer would be: never.

I try to make it to Decoration each year plus we clean up a few days/weeks beforehand. Our community cemetery started as our family cemetery so it has my family name and is next to our family's property. I used to play there a lot as a kid.

The only one I know of is my sisters where her ashes were scatted in the form of a memorial. I don't go up there as I don't need a piece of stone to remember her by. My dad goes up there once a year though on what would have been her birthday. Still if it was a actual grave and her remains were buried there I'd probably feel differently. However being as she wanted to be cremated and that place didn't mean anything to her when she was alive I see no point. I choose to remember her by doing things she would enjoy and not be miserable.

Rarely, as I've never lived near my relatives nor visited them on their home turf often.

My last (and first) time visiting a relative's grave was in 1995. It was my grandfather's.

Pretty much. If people didn't expect it of me I wouldn't go to funerals either. I can remember the dead without visiting their hole in the ground.

Never. I live next to a graveyard - that is, i can actually see tombstones from out my window right now -. So the last place I want to go is another graveyard.

edit: By the way, if you can possibly do so, get an apartment near a graveyard. Best neighbors ever.

That's really interesting! Is it a small community?

Yes. A small, rural, southern community. Decoration Day is more like a family reunion where everyone meets in the cemetery. It sounds morbid when put that way but it is not a sad time. Kids run and play, the pavilion has old folks sitting and visiting in it, sometimes people bring instruments and pick and sing and the church next door has a potluck.

I guess as long as we don't start playing Dueling Banjos like in Deliverance then all is good.

My mom died in 2013 and I've gone there maybe 2 or 3 times.
My dad died in 2008 and the only time I've been there was the funeral. It was in a different state and I don't even know where it's located.

It's not my cup of tea, but my grandmother makes sure to take flowers a few times a year in addition to other visits.

My family, cousins, aunts, and uncles visit my father's, grandparents', and other family friend's graves once a year in late March. We do the typical Chinese food and fake money/clothing offering. It just so happens that they're all buried in the same cemetery and within a short walk of each other. One aunt however was buried in another cemetery so I am not sure who, besides her children and grandchildren, visits her grave.

My moms gravesite is in my hometown, which I'm currently living in. I don't visit it very often (or as often as others do), because I feel I'm closer to her in other places, like the beach. Or in my heart in general. I don't need a resting place to feel close to her. She'll always be with me
