Essays and philosophy aren't nearly as important today as they were even 200 years ago because today we have much higher literacy and education rates. Being able to write out an essay used to be a highly valued skill; today it's something anyone can do on their phone.

I believe essays/papers are the culmination of basically everything you've learned. It really takes a well rounded person to write a good paper. This is why grad school is pretty much all writing. You need to convey in your paper that you know the information, can present it clearly and logically, and be able to elicit a response of the reader. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
