Step 3: craft a prototype

Ok heres my idea! If you try and steal it Ill sue you for stealing my publicly released ideas:

Its a live version of Tinder. You have 1 minute to video chat with someone, and you ONLY have a minute. Afterwards you hit a heart or X. If both match you can text chat and read each others profiles.

Its basically speed dating in an app form. Almost like a mixture of Chatroulette and tinder.

If you disconnect early, you still have to finish the minute before moving on to the next person.

What do you think, CE?

Its not bad, right? Tinder is getting stale. Imagine being forced to actually talk to someone for a minute. You either hit it off or dont. But bots cant be on it, and none of the catfishing from tinder!

Yeah agreed. I think Id need to talk to experienced app developers first and see how possible/easy it would be to build.

Here are some questions you should address before moving on:
- Will there be a physical office?
- How are the moderators being paid?
- Is it subscription based or free?
- Will it have advertisements?
- Will people be able to pay for shorter wait times?
- Will you be able to extend the video length? With tokens? By paying? So many per day?
- How will it be secured against GPS phishing?
- Will there be a server for account/profile storage and other things, or will it be cloud based?
- Will it be random, or will there be a questionnaire to determine compatibility?
- What VOIP protocol will it use? If you use an existing one, how will you pay for the licensing rights?

I've done some app building in the past. Even if you can't answer them all, the more you can answer the more investors will want to get on board. And it's all stuff that you'll need to address eventually.

Seems like it'd be too much work? Swiping is easy. Actual facetime conversations, even for a minute... Don't know. It's not a bad idea for sure though

Ive been using dating apps since before tinder even started. I know how much of a pain in the ass it is, and how exhausting it is to send messages back and forth. Its hard to see if theres a connection via messages alone.

Actual face to face interaction feels much more real. Sure its initially a bit more work, but you can find actual connection between people that way much easier than repeatedly asking how are you? Or whats up?

Plus connection needs to be steady, and even with good 4G it'll eat in your data plan fast.

So basically you can just use it from home connected to Wifi, which most people won't.

Most people these days are connected to WiFi almost constantly. Except when theyre on the go. Obviously this wouldnt work on the go.
