After the camps were liberated at the end of the Second World War, many of the pink triangle prisoners were often simply re-imprisoned by the Allied-established Federal Republic of Germany. An openly gay man named Heinz Drmer, for instance, served 20 years total, first in a Nazi concentration camp and then in the jails of the new Republic. In fact, the Nazi amendments to Paragraph 175, which turned homosexuality from a minor offense into a felony, remained intact in both East and West Germany after the war for a further 24 years.

he also might have been Jewish

and yes, the allies did rapes. it got covered up but when Germany fell alot of American soldiers raped German women before they went home. many of the returning heroes that got parades in america were rapists. and there are lots of german people today who's grandfather or great grandfather was an american soldier.

gay people also had the lowest chances of survival in a concentration camp because while the other groups sent there to die formed a support group and kept each other alive those who had to wear the pink triangle were excluded and the other victims looked down on them so they were on their own

basically even the people in the concentration camps thought that gay people deserved this

It's amazing how if you look up a little bit of history how wrong everything is, such as Washington, he's hailed as a hero and a good and honest man but in reality he was a liar, a cheat and did all sorts of shady shit to get his army. Then there's all the fucked up stuff the US has been doing in the middle east such as raping the populace. in general yes, but the documentary future shock (1972) seemed to suggest that gay marriage was becoming somewhat accepted in places in the early 1970s (presumably as a result of the progressive wave of the 1960s)

the aids epidemic of the early 80s-90s (and the rise of the religious right around the same time) set gay rights back a decade or two

I really dislike how FDR's racism, prejudiced laws, and other shit is practically ignored in many circles and the man idolized, meanwhile the same people look at the likes of Andrew Jackson and call them pieces of shit while ignoring their contributions to the nation. I didn't actually know that, I'd heard the Soviets and Japanese were the worst and didn't think much of the rest, but I'd believe it. Dresden getting blown to bits for no reason was definitely a war crime too.

I have some relatives that left Germany in 1945 (my direct family line left before WWII - one guy even fought against Germany for the Allies), but I've never met them. They'd probably have interesting stories. I know their names and could probably track them down if I really needed to, but meh, I doubt we share a common language...
