I'm not defending them nor deflecting from the topic, but I figured since we're talking state owned media that people may not know is state owned, I'd add to the list. Dunno why you're getting so assblasted over that.

There's propaganda on lots of news channels of course. RT is good for bringing up on your radar alternative news stories and angles that mainstream US media won't cover, as long as you know they're shills for Putin.

Not a claim. Just something I heard in some podcast a co-worker had on mention that this was happening in Russian news agencies. May have been more on social media, can't really remember. Just something I recalled hearing when I saw this topic.

That was my takeaway 6 years ago.

They have an agenda, but are worth having in a diverse mix of news sources if you admit that everybody has an agenda. It can balance things out a bit when the Western news outlets are banging the war drums over Assad while not talking about the atrocities at the hands of the moderate rebels.

I don't understand why I read news about other countries taking measures to mitigate and minimize the influence of Russian state propaganda, and in the US we've taken miserly steps to do the same and people still wind up eating that shit up.
