Do you support the anti-gun walkouts and protest for Gun Reform on March 24?

Jacob Shoemaker, a student from Ohio who doesn't deny that he is a CONSERVATIVE got a one day out of school suspension after he decided not to join EVERYONE in the school who joined a national walkout protest against gun violence as he said he took a "neutral" response by sitting in class instead!!

The 17 y/o Rotund decided to sit in his classroom instead as a form of nonpolitical protest and to avoid being grouped in with "millenials" who decided to be political on gun reform even though he admits he DOESN'T want gun reform

The reason for his suspension was because he refused to follow instructions as the district says its responsible for students safety and they can't be unsupervised as the reasoning for the punishment.

Spokesman Stacey Raterman said "I can only confirm that no student was suspended for not walking out, nor were any suspended for walking out"

The slip has goen viral bringing attention to how the student was kicked out of school for a day as he said "I really didn't have a choice here. If you walked out, you were with the protest, you were for gun control and anti-gun violence. And if you sat in this pit with all these people, you were pro gun violence. It's the least political protest that exists and the thing that iw as protesting in politics in the classroom I feel that it has no place. In a school, in a district, anywhere. We aren't even old enough to vote for change and i don't think students should be political about anything at all"

Jacob's dad, Scott instead got a myriad of angry PHONE CALLS instead after the letter went viral as he said "Thought i was going to have a normal day yesteray until my son's story (and my old phone number) went viral and media outlets from al over the country strated contacting me. Jacob felt he was forced to make a political decision at school, but refrained. This was not the first time we had problems with politics in the classroom as many of you are aware. Proud of my son for sticking to his guns, literally, and avoiding politics in schol, although the school district were less than thrilled with his decision and probably the unwanted attention that they are getting the harsh decision that they made. He chose not to follow the liberal view of guns and i am proud of him"

This is a prelude before the massive protest around the country on March 24th where students will march for gun reform in Washington next Saturday.

Do you support the anti-gun walkouts and protest on March 24 for gun reform?

Eh I was "forced" to take R.E at school despite not being religious while someone who was religious got to skip the classes because it was against their religion. Point is if I can suck that up this kid could suck this up easy. It's all well and good "sticking to your guns" but every action has consequences so you can't really complain if said consequences suck.

It's ironic that the one legitimate protest in this so-called protest resulted in a suspension. And, as even NPR notes, the whole thing has been farcical -- it's not an organic student movement but instead administrators using students as their tools to push their agenda.

By making a protest mandatory, does it not kinda lose all its value?

Hypocrisy... I'm for tight gun laws, but it's not like he actively tried to prevent others from expressing themselves. This is dumb. I bet the same people getting mad at this kid get mad at the "anti-kneeling" people. It's not about freedom or rights or anything beyond "agree with me or else!"

He was suspended for staying in the classroom with no supervision instead of going to study hall like all the students who didn't want to participate in the protest were supposed to do.

Was he in trouble for not participating in the protest?

Or was he in trouble for refusing to leave the building where there was no staff left?
