If its a full on brawl, yeah.

To take control of a non combatant, no.

This is the only reason I'm afraid of the police. I just know myself and if someone was on top of me or trying to get there I would fight back out of instinct.

Yeah but if you aren't resisting in the first place you shouldn't end up in that position anyway

I think he means when a cop is on top of someone, and maybe 2 other cops are also on him or holding down limbs. and one cop just starts pounding their head over and over. that is fucked up cause even one punch can kill someone. cops are overly aggressive and they go way over the line all the time. whenever I see videos of like 10 cops beating the shit out of one guy who is laying on the ground unarmed and sometimes already handcuffed, it enrages me.

I feel like I never see this. At least not nearly to the exaggerated level you're talking about

Also definitely never see this. I feel like people hear about police brutality so much in the news that they start to falsely create memories in their head that never happened.

I will say this... for people that resist arrest, cops are trained to take you down, disarm you, and contain any possible threat as fast as possible. And when someone resists it's kind of a big red flag like... "Hey this guy is potentially very dangerous." Put yourselves in their shoes... they don't know whether or not the person has a weapon and usually if someone is resisting it's someone who has an extensive criminal record or is dangerously intoxicated and aggressive. Sure, ive definitely seen excessive force before but more often then not it's really the result of the criminal being aggressive and stupid.

Moral to the story... don't resist arrest and you won't find yourself getting tossed on the ground/hit by cops. Even if you feel you're innocent or have done nothing wrong, work it out through the justice. Resisting arrest will not help you

sometimes they interpret stiff bodies as resisting though. that's why cops shout "stop resisting" and the perp says "i'm not resisting!". the body tenses up under assault and the cop is trying to bend arms. and they can't and they think the person is fighting them.

He's not resisting, that's rigor mortis - you've been punching him for 3 weeks.

There was also a case of a car chase that ended in the perp crashing into another car and then running away. When cops showed up they thought the crash victim was the perp they had been chasing.he was crawling out of his car on fire and cops kicked him. The fact there were 2 cars and there was a 50% chance this guy was innocent didn't phase them

Out of the countless amount of times police have detained people over the course of the last decade... Yeah I'm sure it would net quite a few

No, cops shouldn't be doing any punching. Grappling only. Or, at most, *maybe* a European uppercut.
