I think the idea there is that Trump, just like L-Block, could consistently capture like 40% of the vote and it was enough to survive in an environment with more than 2 options.

Which I think is exactly true through the Republican primaries, but I dunno about any further than that.

While I agree that the electoral college is flawed, it's about the momentum and "for the lulz" and "I want to piss contest/government purists" aspect that lblock and trump clearly both shared.

And speaking about the electoral college specifically, society should have been alarmed if Trump won just a few states and lost the election. Trump is the symptom of a much bigger problem, if he didn't win who knows who runs in 2020 and maybe wins.

2012 Romney's critics: He's a corporate figurehead
2016 a bigger hot head, and even more corporate figure (as Romney at least was the governor of Massachusetts) wins the election.

Sure he won via the electoral college, but still that's fucking alarming enough.

Nah its just 2007 is the biggest pivot point in post ww2 history. Bigger than 89 with the fall of the Berlin wall, 01 with 9/11, early 60s with the CMC, JFK and major aspects of the civil rights movement, etc.

Because myspace was never popular amongst the entire county and world. There was never a moment when myspace, gfaqs, livejournal, xanga, etc were being used by 40s, 50s, 60 somethings. There was never a moment when myspace got more Web traffic than the rest of the net combined like Facebook has done in some large countries like indonesia.

2007 is when it all began. Late 06 through early mid 08. That's when the Era began, and in 2016 it seemed to finally be addressed in how much it's shaped what's going on, probably because a clown is in the white house

And 2009 is pretty damn close to the time period i claim anyway. MySpace by 07/08 was declining anyway, take a look at Google trends.

MySpace was like everquest, Facebook is like WoW. Xanga, LiveJournal all those were like Acherons Call, Ultima, etc

It does because MySpace was never used by the general public. It was mid 20s people and younger, and aspiring musicians. It was big, but a joke in size and scope to the players of today.

Also Facebook was growing in 06/07/08 way faster than MySpace was, because myspace wasnt even growing really. Most people were leaving MySpace at that time, it took a bit of time sure, but 07 is clearly the pivot point for the MySpace vs Facebook, and the rise of the current constant need of validation via social media

One one hand, the Justices are going against the laws. They clearly state who makes the district maps. On the other hand, the maps are gerrymandered. That said, I do not like the new map much either.

I just get annoyed that people think I'm saying it's a bad thing. It's not bad or good. It just is. That 06/07/08 period was massive, and people are much more aware of it starting around 2016.

I am not sure exactly what you are saying, but yes, the whole controversy is that Republicans gerrymandered according to the rules which allowed them.

That said, it has already been ruled on and the Supreme Court isn't going to touch it because they feel it is a state issue.

So, it is done and over with. No reason for either side to keep arguing over it. Just stating that there is a reasonable argument for why Republicans felt the map should not have been changed. Whether underhanded or not.

I personally could care less regarding the map. They both pretty much suck.
