10-Day Suspension, Written Warning Delivered for Cleveland Cops in Death of Tanisha Anderson

https://t.co/2poq68gg2U

A grand jury heard evidence from the Ohio Attorney General's office in its investigation of the death of Tanisha Anderson, as well as evidence from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department, over the last months of 2017 and into 2018. In February, it declined to bring any charges against two Cleveland police officers Scott Aldridge and Bryan Myers for her death on Nov. 13, 2014.

Anderson, 37, was involved in a family dispute on Ansel Road on Cleveland's east side. Police were called, and, after discussion with the family, officers handcuffed the woman, who was suffering a mental health episode, and escorted her to a cruiser to be taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. After resisting, officers used a takedown move. She then went limp, according to police officers on the scene.

Internal Affairs determined the officers Scott Aldridge and Bryan Myers failed to provide medical assistance. After being cleared of criminal charges by the grand jury, the department conducted an internal administrative hearing for possible disciplinary charges. Those were announced this morning.

Aldridge was given a 10-day suspension and Myers received a written warning. The officers may appeal the decisions.

The City of Cleveland has agreed to a $2.25 million settlement with her family, who had filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

Cops get off easy, city is forced to pay for it - who is really protecting and serving, here?

The politicians who pay them. The police are not legally required to serve or protect the public. "Protect and Serve" is just a motto from an ad campaign from decades ago.

Im not sure what exactly you want. If someone having a psychiatric episode is being resistant and/or attacking cops, what are the cops supposed to do?

1. Leave then alone so they hurt thenselves or someone else and you can then claim they didnt do their jobs
2. Let the people attack the police seems to be popular....well, cops dont get paid to stand there and be attacked by mentally ill people
3. Handcuff the person for everyones safety and attempt to send them to the psyche unit....thats what they tried to do. Sounds like the person got out of hand and they used a take down move. The details arent there in that article. But you ppl make it sound like they rodney king beatdown a defenseless woman to death and got a SLAP ON THE WRIST
