I agree.

It's like having a perfect thanksgiving turkey, and sticking it in the microwave for 7 minutes on high and gnawing on the dry AF flaky, sinewy disaster and being like "Mmmm that's just right!"

Or rare/medium only came to be because someone's timer broke and they took it out early. Then were too lazy to cook it more.

Overcooked steak is the same as undercooked chicken. Do you want your chicken pink and red in the middle? No, obviously not, because that's not how you cook chicken.

Do you want your steak burnt and brown in the middle? No, obviously not, because that's not how you cook steak.

Granted a burnt steak can't get you sick, but the flavor should come close to accomplishing that.

Your taste buds are broken. I prefer medium, but I'm not stupid enough to think well done has no flavor or that flavor can't be appreciated by someone.

I don't want my chicken pink and red in the middle because it's dangerous and can make you sick. It's got nothing to do with a group of egotistical jackasses that have decided it's "supposed" to be cooked a certain way.

You want the highest unholy culinary sin I've ever known? I know someone that cooks prime rib well done. First time they hosted a holiday we all went over and they had said we're having prime rib. A big ribeye roast. Great. Perfect. Just like home we thought. Oh how naive.

Omfg it was cooked well done all the way through. Grey to the core with french onion dip mix on top as the seasoning. And then good thing/bad thing, there was enough for one serving a person. We all kept our mouths shut. But damn. Maybe this is just the way we were all raised. But #1, prime rib is always red in the middle and crisp on the outside from giving it a quick pan fry first and seasoned well. #2, and far more important. We always cook enough for thirds for ourselves and if hosting anything those measurements are extended for all guests no matter the dish. Enough for everyone to get their fill and then enough for everyone to get a serving of leftovers.

Stop it, cooking isn't an art, and requires no skill. You should be able to burn the fuck out of it, and destroy every quality that makes it special and coveted because if you do it properly, you are an "egotistical jackass."

Just throw any cultural culinary knowhow out the window because some people who know fuck all about anything say so.

Except medium rare, and rare steak is perfectly fine to serve because it's cooked properly and offers no health risks, which is why virtually every steak house on the planet will cook it like this for you.

Go ask for a medium rare, or rare chicken breast and see what happens.

One time I actually saw someone ask for their chicken cooked rare. I don't remember the place though. Thanks for reminding me about that, it was pretty funny to hear.

That URL doesn't exist my good sir/madam. Please stop making up stories. Mine was at least real (though they were told they couldn't have it). If you don't believe it then you haven't seen the crazy orders people ask for these days. I also saw someone at In-n-Out ask for fries put into their shake. But that's getting off topic...
