.....this way? This is a fact many pro life politicians vote this way, they will try to do everything they can to.....

......prevent women from being able to get abortions but at the same time will vote or try to drastically reduce or even eliminate programs, if they could, like wic, head start, food stamps, etc.....The same programs that would help these kids that hypothetically would have been not aborted.

i dont see a connection between the two tbh.

like say you're anti-abortion, your only priority is to stop abortion, it's not necessarily to solve the problem of unplanned pregnancies.

I think it's super fucking hypocritical now that it's coming out that Trump very likely knocked up Stormy Daniels (per the NDA) and that he is very likely a "baby killer" himself (unless she had the abortion against his will, which I doubt because he was married)

your only priority is to stop abortions? So you think that is the mindset of many pro life people? just stop the abortions, kinda hypocritical imo

It's not hypocritical when you realize all they want to do is control the (sex) lives of women.

the main hypocrisy I guess is the attempt to restrict access to contraceptives that would prevent the need for those things

you need a reason to do something. their reason for wanting to stop abortion is "its a child, think of the children, we care about the lives of our children"....so then why do they stop caring after the child is born?

that logic doesn't really sit well with me. "oh, you want people to stop having abortions? then you have to solve all other problems involved with unplanned pregnancies first!"

btw george carlin in one of his "specials" joked about the hypocrisy of people who were pro life and he joked that many of them see these potential children as potential future soldiers. "A whole lot of dead motherfuckers" was his quote and joke.

People aren't pro-life because liberals are pro-choice

Removing those programs is a result of being economically conservative, not spending much and also not taxing much. Abortion is a moral issue.

your logic is what doesn't make sense. As i said you need a reason for not wanting Abortion to exist. you can't just say "eh, I don't like it" and make that law. you need to argue a reason to abolish it. the reason they choose to use is what i mentioned...so its perfectly fair to counter that argument with "why do you stop caring after the child is born"...its not us making the claim. We're just calling their bluff on the reason THEY CHOOSE to use for why they don't want abortion. They don't want to be called hypocrites? Choose a different reason to abolish abortion...

abortion is a moral issue, you can want something gone for moral reasons and have different views on economics

As much as I disagree with the politics I can't say it's wrong no.

"I want to stop all abortions"
And
"I don't want to fund social programs for single moms."

Are not contradictory statements.

Douchey? Sure

But the focus in both cases is on self-responsibility not government responsibiity. It's consistent

which is fine. but for some things, what's moral for you might not matter to someone else. and when you're deciding policy as a nation you need a strong reason. "its immoral" on its own is not enough to change policy for the entire nation and force it on everyone. So they need more. the more they choose to use is "think of the children. we care about the children"...as soon as they use that argument its fair game to call them out on their hypocrisy.

the strong reason would be that the pro-life person thinks that abortion is the murder of an unborn child

This

Specifically, the religious social conservative view point is basically that you shouldn't be getting pregnant unless you're 100% sure you can support the kid on your own. Anything that discourages people from feeling like they have a way to have kids they can't support is acceptable under this view point. You can argue it whether it's ethical or not all day, but it *is* internally consistent
