I still remember the day my friends and I got bored of playing with action figures. We spent about an hour and a half setting everything up, which was normal for us, and then we just kind of sat there for a while as it sunk in that the thing that had made it so fun before had suddenly died of old age. And so the final war was never fought. We just put everything away and moved on to something else.

All these years later I still feel sad about that moment. It's kind of like when you go through an "I'm bored of video games" phase and can't seem to find anything you like. Your brain is telling you that video games are a source of enjoyment, but the connection just isn't there anymore no matter how much you want it to be. Sometimes I just wish I could go back to when that connection was still there, because nothing has ever really replaced what I got from it. It was just gone and that was that.

But also what were your favorite toys? If you could be a kid again for a day what would you play with?

Nah, toys these days seem overpriced and prone to breaking easily.

I grew up with video games, creepy crawlers, Dr. Dreadful, some wood stacking blocks, whiffle ball and bat, litebrite, spiral art, spirographs, and some other things.

Nah, one of the pros of having kids. And the best fuckin thing is when your mom saved a good chunk of your old toys so youre playing with old school and new hotness with the kids. Its a blast.

Not really. My imagination isn't what it used to be. I can barely muster up the excitement to play with my niece and nephew. I try to tackle my nephew's legos and I can never come up with anything.

My friend and I had a lot of fun with his Battle Trolls.

I'll be honest.

Never even knew these were a thing.

The ultimate tragedy is when you realize that your parents weren't just uninterested in playing with you, but that they actually didn't know how anymore.

I still have a suitcase full of toys from my childhood and my brothers. All sorts of different Spiderman toys, Street Fighter, He Man, Ninja Turtles (I have like 2 versions of each turtle), Beast Wars, Gargoyles, Mighty Ducks, Earthworm Jim, etc.

I used to come up with entire worlds and arcs and stuff and a lot of the time, just act out what was going on with myself (doing fake fights and shit) instead of using the toys, the toys were just a jumpoff point.

I still like some toys, specifically toys that have a lot of cool tactile elements. Stuff like, laser guns, swords, weird propeller things, frisbees (not really a toy), etc.

I think my enjoyment of fighting games and action games are derived from toys. Instead of making the toy do a pose and attack, I can just literally control the character. Even if they have set animations and stuff, it's still cool to control them and do cool stuff, except now there's actual skill and competition involved.

I still enjoy fight choreography, so I'm sure if I busted out my toys, I'd have fun for a while. But there's a limit and I don't think it's necessarily the toys that cause it. It's more like, anything I'd want to elaborate on, there's a platform for it. If I want to make a story, I can write. If I want some cool fights, there are those online that introduce new things I didn't think of. Etc

I can still play with them though. I work with little kids and sometimes they play with random toys and I like to join in their world and do stuff.
