spoilers for korriban

so im on korriban and do all the trials where i beat revan and myself alone. After that Kreia tells me to search the tomb, so I do.

Sarcophagus: decent loot
random wicker baskets behind a fancy door: better loot

random pile of rubble behind a fancy door: construction kit(1) and repair kit(1)

like i just beat one of the hardest and most intense parts of the game and one of the loot drops only carries a construction kit and repair kit.

This is why I dislike random loot. You see it in Skyrim as well. Yeah, a master locked chest has better odds of awesome stuff in it than a random crap chest but it's not impossible to find a master locked chest with 100 gold in it.

Random loot is for when your lazy. If your going to take the time to design a level, take the time to place correct loot.

KotOR 2 absolutely has random loot, I don't recall how it's generated but it is random. It may be once you visit a planet the loot is determined or once you first start your game, I really don't recall. It absolutely has random loot though.

Most of the loot in kotor 2 is random, but it's generated when you first land on the planet or something so it's not practical to try and save scum it.

Yes, the loot is random. It's generated the first time you step into an area though, not the planet.

God damn some shit in KotOR II is very anti climactic.

That's what happens when the entire last act of your game is surgically removed, felt into a blender, and then drip-fed to the player as unsatisfying throwaway dialogue with the final boss of the game.

Obviously, the real problem is that the main character of KotOR 1 got there a few years earlier and looted all the good stuff, so you're just sifting through their sloppy seconds.

Yup, Lucas Arts forced them to release before the game was actually done. It's such a shame, you can see how the game was probably going to be better than the first if only it was given enough time to cook.
