If you are around 30 with no job experiences and werent in school getting a masters or PhD then you are screwed in the eyes of employers because theyll wonder what you were doing for 8 years without a job. So unless you were in a foreign country or were severely sick or injured at home they know you are unreliable/lazy/anxious. It sucks but in the competitive high esteemed job market theyll be hesitant to hire people even if there was a 3-6 month gap between jobs. The only places who wont freak out with this situation are apprenticeship trade schools, theyll gladly take anybody 35 and under even if you were home playing games for 17 years. But yeah at 35 the only USA military branch that will take you is the Air Force so it would be best to try that.

Even if the topic is fake, there are so many millions of able bodied people who dont/didnt take life seriously and hit 30 and are screwed hard unless they dont have kids and hurry up. Even then a lot of high paying places wont even look at you because you are too old with no industry related experience or just had job time gaps in your resume. Its hard and it sucks but thats the reality.

Truth is our generation is lazy and makes excuses. Depressed or anxious? Doesnt matter move your ass and force yourself to work because if you dont have a decent paying steady career job by 40 youll end up working menial jobs until you can get social security at 65 or youll be 40 and living on welfare until you die. Anxiety problems? Doesnt matter, get up in the morning and go to work even if you have to go to the bathroom to throw up its okay at least you are continuing to take care of yourself. Depressed? Doesnt matter, go to work while crying on the bus or train and get to the job and deal with it.

Truth is you have people with no limbs and real mental disabilities that still get up and go to work because they know they have to do something and arent going to die depressed in a room that they are renting out from others at 70 years old while on welfare because they looked for excuses or were just too lazy to see reality.

Yeah, dude in a wheelchair that can't even talk checks the receipts at Sam's Club on the way out. At least he's doing something.

I dunno, most of my friends and myself started working part time as soon as we turned 16, and those that didn't definitely started working once they were out of high school. I guess some people just mooch off their parents but even if you live at home and go to community college at least work part time to have your own spending and tuition money...

Literally go to a staffing agency. They'll get you something, probably something better than burger flipping at least.

I went to a staffing agency one time and all they did was point me to some computers on the other side of the room and told me to check the listings on their website.

Not saying they're all like that but staffing agencies aren't always an easy ticket to full-time employment.

Staffing agencies will not help a 35 with no experience at all. Do you realize how many applicants they deal with on a daily basis? You're better off getting a burger flipping job, or two, and go back to school. Maybe if you work hard enough you can even get some manager experience at one of those burger flipping jobs.

They must have either got a dumb degree with a shrinking job market or they just got their degrees with no prior work experience and no one wants to hire them in their fields cause of that. In terms of needing a degree to work at a fast food place -- completely irrelevant.

Those aren't useless majors. The computer science and education graduates could also be getting certifications or working internships on the side, or at least that's what I'm hoping they're doing. A business major isn't that bad as you can get into quite a few different fields with one, but you need a plan.

i heard of a guy from a relative who was in his 30's, maybe even 40 who never worked a day in his life. lived with his dad who had some kind of work injury for a long time. had crippling anxiety and depression for a long while and no one really around to help him out of the slump. ended up killing him self at some point.

life is just weird like that. you can get your self into a hole and not be able to pull yourself out of it until its too late.
