I have the ps1 version downloaded on my PS3 but I haven't played it that much, so I'm a noob to the game basically. The psp version is like $10 on the vita. Is it worth playing over the original?

It is, but for some reason using abilities causes lag, and after some research it seems the lag is present in the digital version as well.

If that's your only choice, sure. And please understand that there are people out there that believe this, but those are fake fans. War of the Lions is a dog-shit fuck up, imo, but still a solid game because FFT is such a fantastic game. I just don't like it as much because of a lot of reasons, but like I said, a lot of people do

FFT is a fantastic game, just play it, not matter which version.

So you mean the PC emulator version where you have the "best" version, the option to mod the game, and the Speed Up button

That didn't seem that bad. Like maybe each animation was a second longer

The unforgivable thing is: They removed the mid-battle quotes for spells and abilities. I loved those when they would pop up.

As for the slowdown, its not too bad if you haven't played the original, but if you have...Well, it becomes nigh unbearable.

I guess I have that advantage then. I've dabbled in the original but have never really properly sat down and given it a playthrough

Abilities animations takes twice as long iirc.

I never played the original so the animations weren't a deal breaker for me. The game difficulty is still a complete mess, but it's worth playing.
