Wtf is their gun laws

You take a safety course and apply for a license. The rcmp does background checks and a short psych profile. Then they call your references and issue you a license.

You can apply for restricted and non restricted licenses (I hold both). The non restricted covers most conventional rifles and shotguns. Restricted generally covers handguns and some rifles. A restricted license requires you to have a range membership and the rcmp issue you an authorisation to transport, so that you can legally take it to a range.

So yeah, concealed carry isn't really a thing here, but gun violence is not as big an issue here as it is in the states. As an American it may seem terribly restrictive but it seems to work here for the most part. The biggest gripe with the system is that the rcmp classifies whether weapons are prohibited or not, meaning the police are making the laws, not politicians.

I live in a a moderately high crime neighborhood. If I were to call the police, response time would be ~40 minutes based on previous experiences. So if someone breaks into my house, I cant count on anyone besides myself to keep me, my wife, and my cat safe. I keep a loaded shotgun near where I sleep for that reason and I sure as hell wont hesitate to use it in the event of a home invader.

Cars: I have easily spent $10,000 on my two cars last year.

Cinema crap: easily $4000 last year. Ive bought two TVs, the KU6300 didnt have the right HDR so Bought a OLED tv. Then got a new blu ray that supports 4K. Ive bought more blu rays than Xbox games...
Edit: be4 uneducated people ask: the blu ray in gaming consoles doesnt give you the real image. Its a knockoff blu day with disproportional sound, and color.

MMA/gym: I spent more on this than gaming.. its stupid how much it costs for training every month. Ive learned why so many fighters even in the UFC are scraping by. Because getting 50k for a fight is nothing when it costs 100k annually for a gym and elite martial arts coaches.

The list goes on. Gaming is one of the cheats hobbies on earth.

I go skeet/trap shooting one or two times a month. My home defense gun is a mossberg 500 (5+1) capacity with an 18.5" security barrel. I do have a Benelli Montefeltro now for sport, but I'll still use the Mossberg at the range when I bring friends.

I applied for a pistol permit too but it takes fucking 15 months for them to be issued here (Erie County, New York)

the counties have always been really crazy in michigan. i used to live in grand blanc which had great response times and limited crime (some great neighborhoods and schools too) while flint and genesee are almost like another planet in terms of crime and only being a very limited number of miles away from each other.

of course i dont want to make it sound like flint is a shit hole because it is fairly safe for the most part, but it does have its bad points.
