I think the 21 age limit is fine for all semi-automatic rifles and hand guns. There should be a military exemption, and 18 year olds should be able to buy shotguns (even semi-auto) and bolt action rifles.

So at 18 youre an adult thats legally responsible for yourself BUT you can still only exercise certain rights.

If we're gonna treat 18 year olds as kids then lets treat them as kids. But its stupid to say they should be legal adults if they can't exercise the rights of a legal adult.

EDIT: I changed my mind. The article says "ANY FIREARM" to which I am opposed. We sit here and complain about rape culture on College Universities, and so we're going to take away the option for a woman to conceal a firearm and protect herself?

Only if we're defining adulthood as 21 now. No voting, no sexual consent, no cigarettes, no military service. If you make all that 21+ ok fine. The inconsistency in what qualifies as an adult here makes zero sense.

I don't see a problem with raising the age honestly. We have to wait until we're 21 for cigarettes and alcohol now. 25 to rent a car. You can't even gamble until 21 either. I think people can wait a few years into adulthood for a gun.

Why does anyone think this is a legitimate argument? 18 year olds in the military go through extensive training to use firearms. Someone like Cruz would have washed out of boot camp. We dont put 18 year old civilians through the same process. They can just walk in and pick up their rifle.


What does anyone think think his is a legitimate argument? Training them to use a weapon right clearly isn't the problem when it comes to guns, especially because it makes the *real* problems associated with guns worse since they'd be better at using them.
