A soldier from Mother base gets transported to a nether realm version of earth where he must eat and drink every 10 minutes or he dies. At the behest of Launce Fishburne, he must stab zombies for their sweet nectar which is used as money by robots for some reason. He then must go around nether earth turning on machines which will summon zombies which he must stab with a pipe because those zombies will destroy the machine. And don't forget to eat because you'll die if you don't! That's the entire game. "Where's the stealth in all this?", you might be asking. There isn't any. "But killing zombies has got to be fun, right?" Should be. It isn't. "The story has got to be interesting, right? It's Metal Gear!" There's a zombie dimension Earth that's completel barren except for Laurence Fishburn, zombies and some animals. You want to leave it. That's the entire story. That's not even getting issues like being charged extra money ($10) for additional save slots (you get ONE with the game), game must have a constant internet connection to even work, the janky melee system, the microtransactions of $1 to $50 for an in-game currency that effectively allows you to pay to cheat, some truly terrible voice acting, wonky teleporting animals and an entire game of halfeverything despite milking reused assets. The characters are currently more interesting than the new ones in TPP. This game has former Metal Gear and Silent Hill staff as it's development team and it shows. For reference I've played nearly every Metal Gear game, the only ones I really disliked were V and Portable Ops. The lead programmer this time is Kazuhide Hatsuyama, a carry over from being the head of MGS4 (probably why the threat ring of MGS4 returns) The artists are Ikuya Nakamura who directed all four botaki games. And for his work on Metal Gear, he worked on every single game and even co-directed Ground Zeroes And Mineshi Kimura who was an artist and modeler who worked on every Metal Gear game, finally directing Metal Gear Rising.
