I don't get it. It isn't a requirement. Most say it's for self defense when in reality it's just to go out and have fun. Life for the majority of gun owners won't change if they lose their guns. I'm not saying to ban guns. I'm just saying that it's weird that they act like they can't live without them.

hunting, pest control, defense, fun.

if you want a bigger answer then you can say guns are symbols. they represent individual freedom and reliance and an answer to oppression and a deterrent from tyranny. will this ever happen to the point that its time to break them out? probably not, but its just the fact they are here and can be in any ones hands that keeps it from getting to that point to begin with. in general better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

i also find it to be quite something where people are trying to get them out of more peoples hands and then complain about police brutality and the current administration. trump is literally hitler...but we dont need these things that could actually help fight him if he starts giving orders to execute people in the streets. minorities are getting killed by the alt-right and nazis so we better not give them a means to defend them selves. or how about we expect women and the elderly to play patty cake with the 2 large masked men kicking their door down. its insane to me.

I mean, sure, ban guns. I'll hunt down Canadian Geese in the wild and rip their throats out with my teeth if that's more humane.

As far as I know there are plenty of failsafes in the legislation around the presidency, but I can't be completely sure. And even if Trump does go full crazy, do you actually think the world is going to just sit and watch with tea and crumpets? No. And the whole "we need to defend ourselves", I want to know how many people have actually used their firearms to protect themselves. I don't think it's an astonishing amount. On top of that, if you put harsher regulations on firearms etc. you might just prevent shitloads of people from having the power to do horrible things with said firearms. I find it hilarious how there's a shooting like once a week in America, but there's still this really really old thought of "being free because you own a gun and are able to defend yourself". I'm sorry to break it to you, but you no longer live in a country where outlaws and bandits roam the streets. If your freedom relies on a gun you need to check your lifestyle. I think if you need a gun to feel free you're just scared.

Do gamers feel they NEED games?

No, but I really fucking like them and don't feel I should have to give them up when I'm not a piece of shit.

Edit: Also, this is only from the stance of AR15's and the like specifically. In my case because of where I live I do feel that I need at least some sort of shotgun because the police response to my residence is over 15 minutes.

Yeah, but games that reach retail have to go through regulation and review to be approved for the market
That's why regulatory bodies like the ESRB exist
why stores are supposed to ID for games rated M
etc

And there are agreements after buying the game, like not harassing online players, not stealing resources and misusing them against the maker's wishes, etc

Those regulations clearly don't really work that well. And if you wanna talk about hazardous things to society, America clearly hasn't got their priorities straight because the kinder surprise eggs that kids all over the world can enjoy are banned because theyre a "choking hazard" but anybody can practically get a gun. If I were America I'd worry more about guns than chocolate eggs killing people.

None of my guns run the risk of murdering a dozen people. Guns dont grow legs and go killing. Criminals use guns as a tool. Try fucking blaming piece of shit people for the shitty things they do. I dont blame pencils for misspelled words.

Get the fuck outta here. Your comparing a weapon, whichs purpose is to ultimately kill living creatures to a video game which is used for entertainment. Good luck going on a killing spree with an Xbox one disc. Physical Guns and weapons should not be viewed as a form of entertainment. Your entertainment outta guns is not worth the expense of innocent lives even if it is the result of a few bad apples whove gone crazy. Guns should be used for legitimate purposes and professions that require it. Hunting gets a pass cause its legitimately needed to an extent, but you do not need an AR15 to kill some deer.

Having a gun in your home to defend yourself is the lamest excuse Ive ever heard. You wanna handle guns, get a profession that actually requires you to wield one instead of pretending to be some tacticool schmuckitelli

Because they were taught this.

By the NRA, the gun lobby (one and the same, really) and a fair number of right-leaning online sources.

The word was during the Obama administration that the government is coming for your guns. Once Obama left office, one of the first things the NRA went on record saying was "America is a war zone and the violent left are coming for your guns". The left wasn't in power, but the NRA kept pushing the dire threat of the left.

https://www.salon.com/2017/02/28/the-nras-new-gun-sales-pitch-america-is-a-war-zone-and-the-violent-left-is-coming-for-you/

The gun industry thrives on threats. People buy guns when they feel threatened, so the push by the gun lobby is to keep every American citizen in a constant state of feeling threatened so that they continue to buy guns. And now we nearly have one gun for every man, woman, and child in this country.

But it's still not enough.

I pine for the days when the NRA was actually a safety and responsibility advocacy group. It seriously was at one point, before the "interested parties" slid their way into leadership. Now it's just a gun-pushing business disguised as rights advocacy.

I have some I inherited. I've never fired them once but they were bought for home defense and used for just that in the 70s. My grandparents held them on two men that got into the house while the cops were called by my aunts. My mother bought one after a home invasion attempt while she was home with my brothers. Also for home defense.
I personally think every home should have one.

But something that shouldn't be discounted, because it only shows the ignorance of and/or disdain one has for is the rural areas in our country where people own them for predator control. And that makes up the vast bulk of our land area in the US. Even locally, just a block down from me there's large properties and then open land going into the mountains. Ranches out there too. And this is SoCal. Many people own chickens, geese and goats, etc. Horses and cows are less likely to be targeted but still. We have coyotes on a daily basis. Bears and cougars are a thing as well. Then you have raccoons and skunks that a very big problem. The way they're dealt with by these people is to shoot them. It's just reality. You either accept that fact or you don't care. And imho the ones that don't care shouldn't have a say at all on the matter.

I don't think anyone should own assault weapons though. Or large magazine ones either.
