I would love it if they let some of the other heroes shine for awhile, but they'll probably just recast. I mean, they could at least pull some 'time travel' shenanigans like it was a comic, but I'm sure they wouldn't do that.

I'm almost 100% certain that Bucky will step up as the new Capt; and I see Strange kinda taking over Stark's spot. Those two, and Black Panther if he stays around.

Bucky is definitely taking up Cap's spot. Is Thor done with standalones? I really hope he isn't. He's kinda important, and they really had something special in Ragnarok. Would like to see more Thor films like that.

Really? I don't even think the MCU needs them considering how big all of their new stuff has been. Wouldn't surprise me if Bucky becomes the new Captain America and Tony Stark 'retires' and is only used as a supporting character like in Homecoming.

Yeah I think we'll see Thor 4 since Ragnarok set a new direction for that franchise. I don't see Thor as a leading man for the MCU though. I don't see him headlining the Avengers or having a Civil War moment for example.

Yeah, you are right. It may change now. It would just seem weird, considering how Star Wars was handled, or any other long-running franchise. It's difficult to switch the protagonist in series without so many eyes on them.

I feel like they've spent most of this phase grooming the audience in getting used to the newer characters just to make sure it will work. We started out phase 3 with what was essentially Captain America vs Iron Man and that's basically been it from them until Avengers (outside of Iron Man having a big supporting role in Homecoming). No Iron Man solo movie at all. Their character arcs seem like they're coming to a close too. Civil War was a big climatic moment for both of them and I think the next Avengers movies will resolve it.

I'm not expecting Iron Man 4 in the next phase either. I think the next Captain America movie will be lead by Bucky (perhaps to see if audiences will accept a transition like that). Avengers 4 will probably end with them passing the torch to the new team (Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Ant-man, Wasp, Spider-man and Doctor Strange).

On top of this they recently got the X-Men and Fantastic Four which I'm guessing has totally shifted whatever their previous plans were for movies after Avengers 4.

Yeah, that makes sense. You are probably right.

If Sony would allow them, it'd most likely be Spider-Man.

I fully expect Bucky to take over as Cap so he's a good choice considering he'd potentially be the longest tenured remaining character, depending on what they do with the original Avengers lineup.
