She is one of the worst human beings to ever show up in a sitcom. Even the lauded Seinfeld cast doesn't compare to her.

Never as bad as Pheobe though. Ross, Rachel and Pheobe were all sort of jerks, but at least Ross was justifiably having a breakdown through most of the series and Rachel was too stupid to understand how she was behaving. Even more importantly, they generally owned up to their mistakes, Pheobe just ended up guilting and manipulating everyone to apologize to her.

She was generally the odd (wo)man out of the group. The other five's lives touched on each others', and they interacted with and influenced them.

Phoebe was just... there. She was a character who'd provide short laugh bites a plethora of times, but in the end, was just someone whose sphere didn't interact that much with the other five and pretty much did her own thing most of the time. Resulted in a character who one would think was absolutely hilarious when one was young, but when looking back years later, turns out to be surprisingly shallow, uninteresting, and unmemorable.

She probably could have been written out of the show and there wouldn't be any huge problems in the overarching plot, whereas all the other five would have opened up giant gaping plotholes or story changes if you just got rid of their roles.

Phoebe is sooo underrated

She gets some of the best fucking jokes and Lisa Kudrow absolutely knocks them out of the park

The more you watch the show the better she gets. Youll see it one day.

I've seen the show through probably ten times now, even when it first ran. She actually has gotten worse each viewing. She is okay the first season or two, but then she just turns into a sociopath and goes full ham.

Funnily enough, she always seemed to be the one that had a friend outside the group that showed up in single episodes. I wanna say there was even an episode where she jokingly(?) stated that she has an entirely different group of friends that the Friends never meet.

actually the show touched on this twice

the first time

after the wedding rachel feels she is getting phased out of the group and says she always knew this would happen to one of them eventually she just always though it would be pheobe cause she doesnt have the long history like rachel chandler ross and monica have, and she lives far away where as joey lives in the same apartment building.

and the second time

pheobe is actually happy she tells ross because everyone else has these connections with each other that goes way back and now her and ross have one too since when they were teenagers she mugged him

Hey, that is a legitimately hilarious moment. I'm not saying she never made me laugh, I'm saying she is a horrible, horrible human being for oh so many insane and assinine stunts she pulled and how she treated half of the people she called her best friends over the years.

There is no way. She literally insults her best friends for years, make them apologize to her when she acts like a crazy person, generally by exaggerating her tragic backstory, she is a complete hypocrite. She's just awful on every level. At least Ross and Chandler have moments where they are genuinely supportive and nice, and yes the jokes in the show are dated now, I get that, but I'm fairly certain Pheobe makes some homophobic jokes too.

So the whole cast makes homophobic jokes throughout the show, but on top of that, Pheobe is a sociopathic, manipulative, jerk, and that is too her best friends.

Fair enough. The problem is that she is smart enough to know what she is doing. It's not an accident that she is manipulating her friends. She literally brags about it on several occasions.

Chandler > Monica > Joey > Ross > Phoebe > Rachel

The only sitcom character I genuinely hated was Robin from HIMYM

Honestly Phoebe and Rachel are probably equal to me. I like Ross a little bit but the rest blow them all out of the water.

She was "comic relief" but its very weird in a sitcom.
