Sometimes I wish I was a veteran so I could put a Veteran Parking Only sign over my bed

but boy would that alone not be worth it

I fine with this.

That said I don't mind walking from wherever my space is to get into the store, either, sooo....

I can't really find an issue with this.

I can't say I find an issue with it either, it just kind of makes me roll my eyes because vet is such a broad term. A guy who worked in the kitchen on a base in Texas is a vet ffs

My question is, how would they enforce this? Are they actually going to check for military ID?

It's not legally enforceable, so it probably just works on the honor system. I mean who wants to be the guy who gets called out for parking in the reserved veteran spot

Misrepresenting yourself as a veteran is a crime in PA, though I'm not sure it would apply to that space.

They had a role in supporting our military, I still don't see the issue.

By that extension, every taxpayer in America would qualify. We pay for the military.

Yeah, that's true.

I wonder if battle-experienced veterans would even use this parking spot. They don't seem like the type that wants that sort of attention.

I wouldn't park in it. I'd park in the back of the lot like I always do.

I only noticed it because I was about to pull into one of those spots, then I noticed the sign and begrudgingly parked two spots further away

God damn patriotism

I mean if you want to take it there - go ahead and park there and see how it goes, I'm not even joking.

I'm not sorry you feel that way. I'm not a "fake-patriot" or anything like that; I just don't care enough one way or the other about a person being given a parking space close to the store, that's all.

A guy that cooks in a military mess hall - most of those guys do still go through military training, don't they? Or am I way off? That's the perspective I'm operating from.

If it's a rando off the street that applied to be cook, I don't think they are in fact considered vets...I could be wrong.

It may well be if the parking lot is private property.
