iirc, it wasn't that short. I never finished it, though. I was underleveled going into fight Smithy, etc, and then never bothered grinding to get my team ready to beat him.

I started played again a few months ago. definitely a cool game and i like it but the battle system is pretty mundane and simplistic.

The pacing is different from Paper Mario games. The first few stars don't take too long, the latter stars have more towns and dungeons between them.
