It's silly when I come across job titles like "Solutions Engineer", "Knowledge Engineer" and "Continuous Improvement Engineer". I've learned they tend to refer to fairly specific and consistent things, but at face value you'd think those could apply to any engineer. I assume most engineers have knowledge, come up with solutions and like to continuously improve.

My friend was a department manager and she was one of two people in that department. The other person was also a department manager. So ya, title doesn't really mean much.

My brother was a department manager for a short amount of time. It was just a glorified errand boy. He decided he liked stocking better than that.
