Today I wondered what the devil's evil plan was getting at. This one site footofthemountain said his big plan is "he wants to kill you," and then it lost me in psychobabble. The devil wants to kill everyone and after that there is nothing else because there will be no more humans to corrupt. Idk who has any real authority to interpret the Bible the way intended and declare WHAT IS.

What's the devil's extended plan after he wins the war between good Christians and evil wrong people? I'd like to know what cosmic awful machination, exactly, is being foiled by God winning. Especially assuming that there's no Hell like my church believes.

The bible is full of "plot holes" that dont make sense. When asked about it, people will cite their own interpretation and say you need "faith"

Omg. God allowed Lucifer to create evil so that there could be a big war to stop Satan from not doing what God wanted, and human lives are involved. Anyway. Lucifer became evil because he was jealous of angels loving God. He turns 1/3 of them and it's not resolved yet. God puts a fruit tree in the middle of the garden and LucifeSatan gets them to eat it and gain knowledge of good and evil. This relates to jealosy of the angels loving God... how? If I were the devil, why do I care about adam and eve?

I am not religious but if god is supposed to be life, a mechanical non living a.i. that takes over the planet and completely checkmates humanity into some inescapable servitude scenario makes for a pretty scary/believable satan.

It depend entirely on which 'devil' you are talking about. Some groups claim he is basically a punch-clock villain. He's a civil servant who God employs to punish sinners. Some argue he is a fallen angel who wants to usurp God because of his arrogance. Others argue he is essentially an evil opposition to God. Hell, some groups argue that Satan is the hero and that the Bible's description is essentially a character assassination and blatant propaganda.

Really, though, it's hard to have a discussion without you specifying what group you are asking to defend their belief. It is one of those little details in the Abrahamic faiths that helps to differentiate the various sects and groups.

He doesn't really have an endgame so to speak. He's just a really sore loser and wants to drag as many people down with him as he can. I guess that could be a kind of endgame but it's not like he's got some master plan by which he thinks he can beat God or anything.

...How odd is it that I know that anime? Given that it's pretty obscure...I'll be honest: I learned of it because I was watching Archer on a site that shows the tv shows with new episodes on the bottom, and the thumbnail for this one had some big anime boobies lol. I only watched one episode though. I admit it was for the boobies, however.

Besides, Hell is a concept derived in the NT to keep people in line. Everyone dismisses the OT yet no mention of Hell whatsoever.

Hell isn't even in the NT. The Greek word translated to 'hell' is literally Hades, the state of being dead. This is consistent with the scripture from Ecclesiastes 9:5, describing the living as being aware of their mortality and the dead as 'knowing nothing.'

The modern hellfire belief is a conflation of the story of Lazarus, where the Rich Man is eventually punished for his callus attitude towards poor people by being tossed into ever burning pit reminiscent of the 'hinnon' (a trash fire maintained outside the city where the corpses of murderers were tossed), with and the 'Lake of fire and sulfur' where Satan was to be tossed after the Armageddon described in Revelations.

In both examples, the imagery of ever burning fire is used in connection with divine punishment. But where the first example describes on going torment, the latter example describes the mere destruction of Satan and his sympathizers, after which they presumably 'know nothing.'

The modern hellfire doctrine takes hold with the necessity of Christianity to describe what happens to disembodied souls after death, the 'immortal soul' being another new doctrine imported into the understanding of the scripture sometime after the creation of the church.
