Yeah, I was just talking with someone about this and he brought up good points. 16 is certainly old enough as a late teen to be treated as responsible enough to make decisions for themselves, rather than still be treated like they're prepubescent children. 16 is old enough to drive, to work fulltime, to join the armed forces and marry with parental permission, to join a trade union, to leave their parents, and to get a passport (so a 16 year old is legally able to travel around the world without their parents permission). These are all good things that leads to a more productive society rather than coddling them and increasing the manchild culture that America has steadily been developing. What reason should a 16 year old not be able to consensually have sex but be able to do all the things above? Ironically, a major reason to have an aoc to begin with is to stop child/teen pregnancies yet America who focuses on their "18" fence has more child/teen pregnancies than all the other developed countries who have it all at 16 and a few even lower anyway.
