It started off kind of slow, but the two most recent episodes have been really good. If you liked any of the past Studio Trigger shows (Kill La Kill, Little Witch Academia, Space Patrol Luluco, and others) you'll probably like this one. Franxx definitely has that same charm as those shows.

I wouldn't watch it solely because of that title

It's alright. The heroine basically carries the show right now as she's entertaining and slick in how she rolls. The rest of the cast are, as she puts it, a bunch of weaklings. The show has gone on predictably to hammer in certain mechanics, how mechs need to be piloted by a male and female pair and compatibility is the most important asset; the hero and heroine can't work with anyone else. And the heroine is leagues above the other kids in terms of abilities and in appeal. In fact it's so bad that whenever she's on screen, you can see the other girls (especially the other main one's) self esteem deteriorate by her sheer alpha presence alone. It's great!

So yeah, it's worth watching. If you catch up now, next week is a really big turning point for the storyline as this past episode did a fantastic job setting the tension for.
