Being a prequel trilogy tie-in show I expected it to suck. I was only watching it because I wanted to play all the TT Lego games, but now I'm just legitimately invested. They use the episodic structure to their advantage; sure, there are some episodes that just do "wow look at all those laser sword people doing flippy kicks" stories but often there are arcs focused more on, like, characters. It's brave enough to challenge the audience with questions that have no correct answer; they've got an entire friggin' arc about soldiers who, as a group, have to choose between following the orders of a superior that they know will get most of them killed or committing treason by disobeying, with the surviving members by the end making critical realizations about their own identity based on the decisions they make, with some REALLY dark moments along the way.

And apparently the show was succeeded by a sequel with four seasons (and is ending next month), so even after I finish this I'll have plenty more to look forward to. B]

afaik, Rebels wasn't a sequel. Clone Wars was set between movies 2 & 3, Rebels is set years after 3 and has a new set of characters.

Rebels does tie in to TCW a bit which is really cool.

Its a good show, but TCW is way better.

I meant "sequel" in the sense that it's a show sharing key staff members meant to accomplish similar goals as the prior show.

Rebels has some of the returning cast as cameos I'm pretty sure the rest of the show isn't as good, not to mention TCW was cancelled when it had at least 2 more seasons worth of content.

All the Clone Wars stuff is still canon, IIRC. It's mostly the older EU stuff that got wiped-out.

I never understood the boner that people have for the 2D show. Its not BAD by any means... and idk, I guess its because I didnt grow up watching it, but its not this amazing god-tier thing that everyone makes it out to be \_()_/

I love Clone Wars and Rebels. I'm not really invested in the series outside the original trilogy either.

Which makes sense given they directly contradict each other in a lot of ways :p

The parts of Rebels that tie it to TCW are the best parts. The rest of it....eh. It's just so childish and without consequence. You've got like 5 Rebels destroying fleets of Imperial ships with literally no consequence. The good guys never lose, even when they make serious errors. There's this part of the season 4 finale that's particularly obnoxious.

Do they? I thought the only difference was that the older series exaggerated certain characters abilities to ridiculous degrees (see: the Mace Windu scene).

idk, always seemed lousy to me. Granted, I was never a Samurai Jack fan either (although I enjoyed some of Dexter's Lab)
