idk what happened but my lg phone stopped connecting to my laptop. It may have been after an update or after i absentmindedly mistouched something when connecting it last time but since then it will only charge the phone; laptop wont recognize phone as a storage device and phone wont recognize laptop as anything other than a power source. This probably started monday or tuesday

tried a different cord, nothing. Restarted phone and laptop, nothing. Tried turning developer options off and on, nothing. Tried changing usb connection from mtp to charging only and back again, nothing, tried updating drivers, nothing. Finally tried lg suite software to see if that worked but it couldn't recognize the phone either. Looked at some of their help messages and saw one that i saw when i first started googling for a solution but forgot: "try a different usb port."

so i plug the phone into a different port and suddenly my phone and laptop recognize each other...

so i guess problem averted but does anyone know what might cause a usb port to suddenly stop recognizing my phone?

I've had this problem. It just quit providing the popup that asks if you want to charge it or look at files.

Yeah, it probably is ded

Try accessing it via device manager

Roll back the driver for that specific USB port and reinstall it, if you can

it won't let me roll it back. I can update it (but the automatic update says everything is up to date), disable it, or uninstall it
