Oh. Also there were a number of Republicans years earlier who owned slaves. And modern day ones who would be all for it because capitalism and we all know capitalism is responsible for more deaths than anything else in history besides disease.

The military has completely and radically changed over the span of the last 160 years... It's a bit silly imo to try to make a correlation here. Also recent research suggests that most of the enlisted force doesn't even identify with either of the two parties and between officers it's still not a super clear split.

You can't really say that... Capitalism doesn't cause death, people do crappy things for self-interests. Communism actually calls for death; and communist people on top of that will do crappy things for self-interest.
