After news broke out that Erin Hamlin was chosen over Speed Skating Superstar Shani Davis, Shani decided to BOYCOTT the opening ceremony altogether!!

He tweeted his anger over the committee using a COIN TOSS to break a tie between him and Erin, a luger and said that HE should have been the one to represent the United States as its flag bearer considering he has 2 Gold and 2 Silver Medals over Erin who only has a bronze.

The 4 time Olympian won Bronze in Sochi beamed as she led out the 300+ athletes in South Korea accompanied by the song "Gangnam Style"

The 31 y/o was chosen over Shani, just one of a few black athletes on Team USA. Shani,, a 35 y/ five time Olympian started a RACE ROW when he claimed he could the bearer in 2022 and wrote "#2022BlackHistoryMonth" as twitter users blasted him for using race into why he wasn't chosen and dubbed him a "baby"

He wasn't going to march in the parade of nations until he got the news that the committee was going to ask him to be the flag bearer..but when it ended in a tie and he ultimately lost the coin toss, he vented his anger against the committe and ERIN herself and wrote "I am an American and when i won the 1000m in 2010 i became the first American to 2-peat in that event"

He blasted Team USA for "dishonourably" tossing a coin to decide who would have the honor carrying the flag.

Shani then sent out another jibe at Team USA and said "Watch Origins of Black History Month."

Davis is a long track speed skater who is set to compete in the 500, 1000, 1500m. Erin was the first American to medal in luge singles and a winner of 23 World Cup Medal who announced this would be her last Olympics..

The American team has 11 Asians and 10 black athletes as the team has been trying for years to diversify the team and creating an outreach program for Winter Athletes.

The US could have had 2 athletes carry the flag much like Canada and Korea did but opted only to have 1

No Non-White Athlete has ever carried the flag for the United States in the Parade of Nations

It was a coin toss. It doesn't get much more fair than a coin toss. They were both worthy of carrying the flag, but considering his reaction to losing the coin toss, it seems the right person is carrying the flag after all.
