This week's PSN sale (not a flash sale) includes vanilla Watch Dogs 2 for $20. If I found the first game to be a mind-numbing chore, was the sequel improved enough where it's worth dropping $20?

It's a fun game, better than the first in every way, and worth $20. That said, it's been lower than $20 before.

Funny enough I just picked up a physical copy earlier this week for the same price. I think I'm about halfway through the game (digiiiiiiiii maybe confirm this? I'm currently [warning to Uglyface, MAJOR plot spoiler here] going after the guy who killed Horatio) and I'm enjoying it so far, but I was a BIG fan of the original and I think the sequel is inferior except in its characters, specifically its side characters.

I never played the first, but WatchDogs 2 was fun. Not a great game, but not bad either. I particularly liked the ability to use drones and the RC Car.

I once needed to get somewhere for a mission and the closest thing to me on wheels was a scissor lift. I jumped in the cart, hacked it and drove that fucker down the highway.

Not trying to be argumentative, just interested because you're the first person I have ever seen they prefer the original. Curious as to why?

Chicago was a better overworld. Overworld was more interactive (one of my favorite things to do was to intervene with robberies and murders and saw those happen like every other block; I can count the number of times I've seen them in 2 on one hand). I had more fun exploring. Maybe it's just me but I found better weapons a lot more quickly and cause a TON of fucking chaos. I was able to follow the story better (so far in 2's case anyway). The one thing I'll give to 2 is better characters.

Well.

I got killed by the third security guard in the game. I set off the alarm by trying to sneak up on the first security guard, but taking too long to do it. It really didn't make a positive impression on me (or on the DedSec members watching the fiasco, I'm sure).

Also not a fan of reading tutorials while I'm being actively hunted by security guards. I'm pretty sure that I've missed quite a lot because of the way this introduction was handled.
