He feasts off of ignorance and people who also have money. Dude is not qualified at all to speak about trends or the future of AI because he is just a business man. Employing researchers to do computer vision or gather already existing python packages for AI doesn't somehow make them able to transfer their knowledge straight to your brain and make you a leading authority on artificial intelligence, robotics, and machine learning. When asked to clarify, all he can say is "trust me". He makes asinine statements like "I saw a robot do a backflip, mark my words a decade from now they're somehow gonna break the laws of physics because I said so and move so fast they'll be imperceptible to the human eye." But people ignore this because he's "real life Tony Stark". His Tesla cars are built as if they were already 30 years old, assuming that you're able to grab one in the first place since his company is way behind on production. And he's already suckered cities into throwing money at him to build those underground tunnels...why don't you go take a look at what that company has done so far (spoilers: they dug a 50 foot long tunnel and have a car elevator, whoopdefuckingdoo)

This is the same generation of people who throw away their life savings for meme bitcoin money so what else can you expect tho

It probably won't. Rockets are far more dangerous than planes and due to the nature of launching a rocket can not be built close to where people live. Really it'll be cheaper and safer just to take a plane so it'll never take off.

Who cares if Elon has 0 publications for AI or any of those other fields? That literally does not matter because he learns from world experts he hires, and he drives the vision that the companies implement.

You don't even have to invest that much time into realizing how full of shit he is. Take a coursera/udemy/opencampus/etc course on machine learning, deep learning, or reinforcement learning and you'd be introduced to what is actually going on at the cutting edge and what is reasonably possible in the near future. Or hell just buy a fucking book. I don't expect you to actually do this though and instead listen to Elon's gospel

Yep, I have a copy of A Modern Approach (2nd edition) a few feet away from me and have used copies of Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning for courses I took at Georgia Tech.

I also interned at one of Elon's companies a couple years ago and saw first hand the type of work they're doing there.

We can keep listing personal stuff all day, but this won't give any examples of how what Elon Musk has said should be taken more seriously than what AI researchers themselves have said

Though to be honest, one bait I thought you would take is how Musk's name is on the back of the Deep Learning book as an endorsement and you'd use that as evidence of researchers respecting his technical expertise instead of the obvious name dropping for a wider audience
