Man, I hate going to my old bosses asking them to give me a reference. They give me the whole "you only contact me when you need" bullshit.

Yeah, it's a little bit weird if you don't keep in touch with them. Because then it feels especially like you just need a favor (which you do). But I think they're probably used to it. They can't expect every employee to send a christmas card every year so so they don't seem so opportunistic when they need a reference.

I never care when people ask me for references. Most of the time it's been from people that are still working here looking to leave. I hate to see people go but if this is what they want and believe it's best for them then I help any way that I can.
