Current Events > Living in a town full of sloppily dressed, ugly people

It is terrible when you feel a particular way about aesthetics but when you look around nobody seems to be on the same page as you. Everybody you see is dull. Sporting grey or brown/tan clothing, shops abandoned, life sucked out from the town for whatever reason (likely inept greedy politicians and big businesses like Wal-mart moving in)

So how does you find beauty when there isn't any to be seen? Do we create it or give up and just alienate ourselves from the townsfolk?

All of my passion for life is coloured by this surrounding. I am unsure how to proceed. Too depressed to really be ambitious enough to move. I'm stuck, man. I'm sure I will move eventually but I just wanted to gauge other people's thoughts on this. I have been making art and it's all coloured by this town. It's like any inspirational art isn't going to happen. It is all bleak paintings and droney music that really nobody is going to like but I just make the music and paintings and put them into a corner and occasionally dust them off. God forbid somebody ever finds them and comments on them. I would be absolutely horrified.

I started to wonder ''Why am I making such sad music and drab paintings?'' and I started to realize that it's the mood this town puts me in. I think surroundings influence a lot of people's attitudes and artistic output (:think about the band Black Sabbath; they made bleak sounding music and came from a barren, industrial, grey overcast place)

Do you agree with this?

Move to Hollywood where a lot of dreamy shallow Queen Divas think like you, become Marilyn Monroe and then kill yourself
