Kinda irked that I'm sitting at 94% achievements, and the only achievements I don't have are from playing the game a different way than I did. Which means... replaying the game.

Why would they do this to me. I don't even aim to 100% games but this is gonna bug me.

That's the thing that bugs me, I really don't. Normally I play a game, maybe I check the list a couple of times as I play and scoop up what I can, but otherwise once I finish I uninstall and move on.

The fact that I'm so close to 100% in this game though...

I enjoyed it throughout, especially the variety in the main missions and the DLC content. It certainly felt a little rushed at the end, though. The choice after the final mission was rather refreshing - it was just more compelling than the stereotypical "good guy" / "bad guy" options you get in games these days.

Overall it was enjoyable though there were some rather aggravating moments. These include those lame supply missions where you have to drive what feels like five minutes to the bayou to steal a slow truck to drive ten minutes back to the opposite side of the map to bump up your income. And Burke's loyalty missions, where you steal cars, was just annoying as hell.

Oh I forgot, I also liked how they broached the topic of racism of the era, and they showed a wide spectrum of imagery ranging from the super raunchy (like the orgy with a bunch of chicks and guys doin' stuff in a club) to the downright vulgar (the KKK guys selling African Americans above a grocery store.).

It's a weird contrast from the rest of the gameplay which is rather generic.

Mafia 3 gets a bad rap from that disastrous opening release. It's a great game with a great story, but too bad people will only remember the pre-patch glitches.

Actually one I can do right now by just loading my current save file and choosing a different ending.

The others require you to get $10,000 from one Underboss, kill 15 racket informants, make it to the end with just one Underboss, and make 10 enemies kill themselves with their own molotovs.

I never understood why they would reward you for killing the racket informants since saving them gives you more money for your business... But whatever.

Yeah I didn't really expect much. I played 1 on PS2, played about an hour of 2 on PC, so... am kinda surprised I enjoyed this as much as I did.

Eh, while it's true that the launch of the game was extremely rough (especially on PC) I don't think that was the big deciding factor on why a lot of people didn't like it and/or were disappointed with it.

The big issue with the game (at least in my eyes) is that something like 70-80% of it is just going into each neighborhood/area, doing the same side missions over and over until you can take out or recruit the two racket bosses for each area, then the final mission of the area to take out the boss running the area and finally assigning the area to one of your underbosses. You end up doing this like 9 times I think. Now this would be more bearable if there was more storytelling to go with those repetitive neighborhood takeovers (outside of the boss mission for the area), and maybe more variety in the missions required to take over each area (maybe make each area unique from the others), but there isn't.

To me this is what completely ruined the game for me. The opening missions, boss missions and main story missions were mostly great, the overall story was interesting and Lincoln and a lot of the characters were fairly compelling. But the crazy repetitiveness of the majority of the game's missions is what made it such a disappointment to me.
