That's kind of a hard question for me since I usually only stick with a few choice people and never switch anyone in. I guess my pick would be Final Fantasy VI since I like more of them in a group than any other.

9, with out a doubt.

Zidane was an optimistic lead that was charismatic rather than annoying. (So many classic lines..."Oooo...soft.")

The princess wasn't a depressed diva.

Steiner was great comic relief and also a complex character

Vivi is just lovable with a great arc

Quina is the weird one

Eiko is anime trope loli girl, but shes around only the second half of the game.

The red hair guy is the edgy one.

It's between 7 and 8 but it's a tough call because 7 has a bigger quantity of iconic characters but the whole Squall/Rinoa relationship resonated with me in a way 7's character arcs didn't.

Also FF15 deserves a mention; the tighter focus on the group and their friendships was awesome and I absolutely loved Ignis.

My fav is Quistis from FF8. She saves Squall's ass by absolutely shredding a giant robot with a 50 cal machine gun.
